Potassium-sparing diuretics when used alone are rather weak, hence they are used most commonly in combination therapy with thiazide and loop diuretics. [rxlist.com]
It is weak diuretic agent. It is widely used as IV administration for prompt action and diuresis occurs 1-3 hrs after administration. It is pregnancy category C drug. [health-conditions.com]
- Swelling
By flushing excess fluids from the body, diuretics can relieve the edema (swelling from excess fluids) that commonly occurs with heart failure. [drugs.nmihi.com]
Diuretics are given when the have congestive high blood pressure, swelling or water retention (edema) or heart failure. They may also be prescribed for certain kinds of kidney or liver disease. [cedars-sinai.org]
The major nephrotoxicity of mannitol is the injury to the tubule such as swelling of proximal tubular cells and vacuolization, the so-called osmotic nephrosis. [pubs.sciepub.com]
Mannitol also reduces post-ischaemic endothelial cell swelling and decreases ischaemic–reperfusion injuries through scavenging of hydroxyl and other free radicals. [academic.oup.com]
Medical use Diuretics are used for the treatment of increased blood pressure, cardiac failure and swelling, as well as for other conditions [2, 3]. [dopinglinkki.fi]
- Fatigue
Obtain blood and urine specimen for laboratory analysis Observe for any change in consciousness, dizziness, fatigue, postural hypotension Monitor for fluid intake by measuring intake, output and daily weight. [health-conditions.com]
Other symptoms include an increased level of thirst; fatigue (the result of the loss of essential minerals and salts from the body); and disturbed sleep, as the urge to urinate can cause the patient to wake several times during the night. [informationaboutdiabetes.com]
Severe hyperkalemia may present as muscle weakness, fatigue and slow heart rate ( bradycardia ). It is important to monitor potassium blood levels and to have an electrocardiogram performed. [rxlist.com]

Long-term use of diuretics results in a fall in systemic vascular resistance (by unknown mechanisms) that helps to sustain the reduction in arterial pressure. [cvpharmacology.com]
However, patients with low plasma renin activity also experience a fall in blood pressure during ACE inhibitor therapy. [google.ch]
The most common diuretic medications fall into four major categories: loop, osmotic, potassium-sparing and thiazide (or thiazide-like). [drugs.nmihi.com]

POLYURIA after the release of obstructive uropathy is a clinical entity of considerable medical interest. [nejm.org]
The result is usually polyuria leading to dehydration if not managed in a timely and appropriate manner. [nataliescasebook.com]
In addition, the polyuria expected during osmotic diuresis phase was not evident in our case probably as a result of extra renal water loss by diarrhea and febrile state, and by AKI. [scielo.br]
