Ovarian Cystadenoma
Benign Ovarian Cystadenoma

Presentation

Case Presentation 56-year-old patient presented with a swelling in the lower abdomen. Imaging studies showed a right ovarian mass with solid and cystic component. Suspecting a malignant ovarian neoplasm, a laparotomy and pan hysterectomy was done. [hindawi.com]

In the present case documentary review, we have presented the clinical case of a 24-year-old woman with a left adnexal mass corresponding to giant cystadenoma (37cm), which is defined as an ovarian cystic structure greater than 15cms (10) which in this [medcraveonline.com]

Abdominal pain presented in cases with torsion, but many of the remaining cases only displayed abdominal distension, as in our case. Many patients presented with large tumors, with some as much as 6 - 7 kg. [file.scirp.org]

Presentation A young woman presents with dull, chronic pain in the lower abdomen. An ultrasound was performed. Caption: Sagittal view of right adnexa Description: A large complex cystic mass is seen in the right adnexa. [sonoworld.com]

We report a 30-year-old woman with periampullary cancer and a large left ovarian cystadenoma presenting during pregnancy with features of duodenal obstruction. She had a right benign ovarian tumor removed a year back. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Adnexal masses are usually asymptomatic and incidentally detected. Before extensive use of ultrasound, they are usually discovered during C-section or when they become symptomatic(3). The majority of adnexal masses originate from the ovaries. [jmrh.mums.ac.ir]

CASE SUMMARY In this article we present an uncommon association of three distinct ovarian pathologies in a same woman presenting with adnexal mass. A 31-year-old nulliparous woman with a large persistent adnexal mass underwent laparoscopic surgery. [wjgnet.com]

It should be noted that metastatic cancers can sometimes initially present as adnexal masses. [aafp.org]

  • Pelvic Pain

The chapters present detailed, methodical guidelines f or the workup of the patient with chronic pelvic pain and for the diag nosis and treatment of the many disorders that cause pelvic discomfort. [books.google.es]

There was no history of menstrual abnormality, pelvic pain, or urinary frequency. She had had poliomyelitis approximately 18 years earlier and still used crutches for walking. [nejm.org]

The symptoms and signs are nonspecific and most commonly include pelvic pain, discomfort, or an asymptomatic pelvic mass discovered on routine examination. Between 12-23% of cystadenomas are involve both ovaries. [ovariancancer.jhmi.edu]

  • Ovarian Mass

No ovarian mass of such weight has been ever reported in our hospital before, and it is one of the largest ovarian masses reported in the literature in Egypt. > References 1. Chen VW, Ruiz B, Killeen JL, Cote TR, Wu XC, Correa CN. [cancerjournal.net]

The majority of ovarian masses are cystic, and many of them are functional which may spontaneously resolve (2). [jmrh.mums.ac.ir]

Ovarian mass is an uncommon finding in a female adolescent. In adolescents with ovarian masses, physiologic ovarian cysts are most common, while ovarian neoplasms are relatively infrequent. [consultant360.com]

Treatment

In fact, earlier diagnosis is associated with less invasive treatment approaches and prevention of tissue destruction. [jmrh.mums.ac.ir]

Prognosis

Treatment and prognosis A mucinous cystadenoma is benign with excellent prognosis (c.f. borderline mucinous tumors of the ovary or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary). [radiopaedia.org]

Clear cell cystadenoma: Clear cell cystadenoma is a benign cyst with an excellent prognosis. Complications Cystadenomas of the ovary are benign lesions that rarely recur after incomplete resection. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Etiology

We describe a new laminopathy with ovarian cystadenoma and explore its molecular etiology. The case is a 15-year-old girl who presents the prominent progeroid disorders, multiple system degeneration and early-onset cystadenoma of the ovary. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Etiology Thought to largely derive from ovarian epithelial inclusions, which itself is derived from fallopian tube epithelium. Location They can be bilateral in ~15% of cases. [radiopaedia.org]

Etiology Risk factors Genetic predisposition BRCA1/BRCA2 mutation HNPCC syndrome Peutz-Jeghers syndrome Hormonal imbalance and menstrual cycle Elevated number of lifetime ovulations (the contraceptive pill appears to have a protective effect) Infertility [amboss.com]

Epidemiology

Microscopical images[edit] Epidemiology[edit] Ovarian serous cystadenoma accounts for the largest proportion of benign ovarian tumours, making up over 50-80% of all benign epithelial ovarian tumours. [en.wikipedia.org]

Prevention

Conclusion: Proper diagnosis of masses during pregnancy can save maternal and fetal health through preventing adverse outcomes, such as abortion or preterm labor. [jmrh.mums.ac.ir]

This can often prevent complications. [medicalnewstoday.com]

Hence, there are no known methods to prevent the tumor occurrence. Early diagnosis with close monitoring and treatment of the tumor is important. [najdi.si]
