We present an unusual case of an advanced stage papillary serous cystadenocarcinoma in a 19-year-old Nigerian girl. [panafrican-med-journal.com]
In the present case morphological and immunohistochemical findings were against this diagnosis. [ijpmonline.org]
Four locules are present in this section. Note resemblance to endocervical type epithelium. [med-ed.virginia.edu]
Presentation A young woman presents with dull, chronic pain in the lower abdomen. An ultrasound was performed. Caption: Sagittal view of right adnexa Description: A large complex cystic mass is seen in the right adnexa. [sonoworld.com]

Plain chest X-ray shows no pleural effusion or metastasis. Upward displacement of the diaphragm affecting air entry into the lower lobes of lungs (explains patient's tachypnea). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Typical imaging features of ovarian cystadenocarcinoma include: cystic adnexal mass with a substantial solid component calcification uncommon, but can be seen (~12%) 4 also seen in serous cystadenoma and other tumors frequently bilateral In the setting [radiopaedia.org]

- Pelvic Pain
The clinical presentation was lower abdominal pain, pelvic pain or both in five cases, accompanied by menometrorrhagia or amenorrhea in three cases. One patient was thought to have an acute abdominal disorder. [journals.lww.com]
Dull ache or pain in the lower abdomen, low back pain. Torsion or rupture may lead to severe abdominal pain and fever. Dyspareunia. [patient.info]
The only constant symptom of AOT is abdomino-pelvic pain associated with tenderness which results from occlusion of the vascular supply to the twisted ovary. [jpss.eu]
It affects women during the reproductive years and may cause chronic pelvic pain associated with menstruation. The ovaries are involved in approximately 75% of patients with endometriosis. [radiologyassistant.nl]
Also, obtain a urinalysis to exclude other possible causes of abdominal/pelvic pain, such as urinary tract infections or kidney stones. Imaging studies Routine imaging is not required in all patients in whom ovarian cancer is highly suggested. [emedicine.medscape.com]
Workup
See Workup for more detail. Management Standard treatment for women with ovarian cancer involves aggressive debulking surgery and chemotherapy. [emedicine.medscape.com]
Ultrasound
- Ovarian Mass
It includes a standardized methodology for the US evaluation of ovarian masses and definitions of the ultrasonographic parameters of ovarian masses [ 6, 8, 9 ]. [e-ultrasonography.org]
Examination of the abdominal right lower quadrant revealed tenderness and a solid mass. Ultrasonography showed the dimensions of the mass 75x51x40 mm in the right ovarian lodge and a locular cystic mass measuring 44x25mm in the left ovarian lodge. [jpss.eu]
mass. [ 7 ] The RMI I is the most effective for women with suspected ovarian cancer. [patient.info]
However, intra-operative findings at this first surgery included haemorrhagic ascites and 14cm X 12cm X 6cm left cystic ovarian mass. [panafrican-med-journal.com]
Patients with more advanced disease may present with ovarian or pelvic mass, ascites, pleural effusion, or abdominal mass or bowel obstruction. [emedicine.medscape.com]

Treatment
Information about the cancer’s stage will help the doctor recommend a specific treatment plan. The next section in this guide is Treatment Options. You may use the menu to choose a different section to read in this guide. [cancer.net]
Early diagnosis with close monitoring and treatment of the tumor is important. [dovemed.com]
Cystadenoma Diagnosis & Treatment Diagnosis depends on the type of cystadenoma in question. [knowcancer.com]
Ovarian Carcinoma is an invaluable source of information because it gives a complete overview of all aspects: histologic classification, FIGO staging, tumor markers, symptoms, diagnosis, operative treatment, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, complications [books.google.de]
Prognosis
A medical professional can provide a likely prognosis and work with a patient to determine the best course of treatment. [knowcancer.com]
[…] lesions usually with a good prognosis. [radiopaedia.org]
(Outcomes/Resolutions) The prognosis of Serous Papillary Cystadenoma of Ovary is excellent after its complete surgical removal The prognosis is generally good when the lesions are small and found below the ovarian surface. [dovemed.com]
The lack of early symptoms of ovarian cancers often delays diagnosis, resulting in an unfavorable prognosis. [amboss.com]
Knowing the stage can help predict a patient's prognosis, which is the chance of recovery. There are different stage descriptions for different types of cancer. [cancer.net]
Etiology
Causes and symptoms of ovarian cysts The etiology of tumors appearing in the ovaries is still not too well understood, but the main reason for their occurrence are hormonal disorders. [medicalj-center.info]
Etiology Thought to largely derive from ovarian epithelial inclusions, which itself is derived from fallopian tube epithelium. Location They can be bilateral in ~15% of cases. [radiopaedia.org]
The precise etiological factor for the occurrence of serous papillary cystadenoma of ovary is yet unknown; it is known to occur spontaneously. Researchers have recognized genetic changes within the tumor. [simple-remedies.com]
Etiology Risk factors Genetic predisposition BRCA1 / BRCA2 mutation HNPCC syndrome Peutz-Jeghers syndrome Hormonal imbalance and menstrual cycle Elevated number of lifetime ovulations (the contraceptive pill appears to have a protective effect) Infertility [amboss.com]
(Etiology) The exact cause of Serous Papillary Cystadenoma of Ovary is currently unknown; they are thought to occur spontaneously Researchers have documented certain genetic changes within the tumor. [dovemed.com]

Prevention
How can Serous Papillary Cystadenoma of Ovary be Prevented? The cause of Serous Papillary Cystadenoma of Ovary is unknown. Hence, there are no known methods to prevent the tumor occurrence. [dovemed.com]

Timely diagnosis and excision of the mass on the ovary to prevent relapse. The cystadenoma often has a round shape with sharp edges and, as is typical for this type of education, it develops in a single ovary. [medicalj-center.info]
Early diagnosis and prompt surgery may prevent irreversible adnexal damage by untwisting the vascular pedicle and removing an associated cyst or tumor, if present [15,16]. [jpss.eu]
