Presentation
We found the phenomenology to be very heterogeneous, but the vast majority (77%) of patients presented with headache resembling chronic tension-type headache, either as the only manifestation or in combination with migraine symptoms. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Abstract Post-traumatic headache (PTH) is an important public health issue - head injuries are common, headache is the most common sequelae of head injuries, and PTH can be particularly disabling. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Results: Increased PTSD-type symptoms were significantly associated with increased headache disability ( p p =0.049 and 0.016, respectively). Age was negatively correlated with headache disability (Spearman’s correlation rho=0.361, p =0.001). [dovepress.com]
As a matter of facts, headaches are ranked in the top ten, and maybe the top five, causes of disability worldwide: they are therefore extraordinarily common. [books.google.com]

Workup
Summary: Despite numerous advances in the awareness, pathophysiology, and diagnostic workup of concussion, mTBI, and PTH, there is a paucity of evidence-based guidance regarding treatment. [mayoclinic.pure.elsevier.com]
An extensive workup was carried out under the direction of the patient's primary neurologist. Secondary to persistent intractable pain, the patient was referred to the pain clinic for further evaluation. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
CONCLUSIONS: No strong evidence from clinical trials is available to direct the treatment of PTHA. Some guidelines are offered for PTHA management based on primary headache categories and treatments. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
The clinical features of PTH are those of primary headache disorders such as migraine and tension-type headache and usually follow a favorable prognosis. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
There is no evidence that an abnormality in any of these changes the prognosis or contributes to treatment. These studies should not be considered routine for patients with ongoing post-traumatic headache. [shaperoheadache.com]
Etiology
Certain conditions have both an underlying etiology and multiple body system manifestations due to the underlying etiology. [icd10coded.com]
Chronic post-traumatic headache (PTH) is one of the most common complaints after mild traumatic brain injury, yet evidence to date is insufficient to direct conventional treatment of headaches with this etiology. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Etiology There are multiple sources of head and neck pain, both inside and outside of the head. The brain itself, interestingly, is not a source of pain. [internationalbrain.org]
Epidemiology
This brief review highlights recent advances in the epidemiology, evaluation, and management of concussion, mTBI, and PTH. [mayoclinic.pure.elsevier.com]
Problems with the diagnosis include issues related to classification, epidemiology, pathophysiology (psychogenic vs. organic) and treatment. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Pathophysiology
Contrary to the latter, there are instances when mild head injury without symptoms or signs of concussion may evoke the pathophysiological changes of migraine. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prevention
While there are few studies examining abortive medications for PTH, recent studies of preventive medications examine the efficacy of topiramate, and topiramate may be better than other oral preventive medications. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Pain medicines can help prevent or treat headache pain. Headache pain is easier to control if you take pain medicine as soon as you start to feel pain. You will need to limit pain medicines to prevent a condition called rebound headaches. [drugs.com]
