Type your tag names separated by a space and hit enter Abstract Based on a case presented by the patient himself, the authors describe the difficult management of a very large, recurrent epulis arising in a context of flat angioma of one half of the face [unboundmedicine.com]
Definition (NCI) A friable, benign vascular neoplasm with lobular capillary architecture that presents as a raised red skin growth. [fpnotebook.com]
Whereas the literature describes pyogenic granulomas of pregnancy as occurring mainly within the gingival or oral mucosa, we present 5 cases of a histologically confirmed pyogenic granuloma on the hands of gravid women, each with no history of antecedent [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The present report is limited to describe a granulomatous gravidarum lesion associated with prosthesis on implant unit. [scielo.br]
Entire Body System
- Inflammation
< back Definition and clinical picture Gingival tissue overgrowth (Celsus/Galen: "disease on the gingival surface"; Axhausen: "no epulis without a tooth") These tumour-like lesions, designated as epulis, are rather: Due to chronic trauma or inflammation [med-college.de]
However, at the five months visit the patient’s compliance had improved and there was resolution of the gingival inflammation around the lower teeth (Figure 4). [juniperpublishers.com]
Conventional periodontal treatment, including scaling and root planing was performed to decrease gingival inflammation. [jdentlasers.org]
It can occur as gingivitis, which is inflammation of the gums, or periodontitis ( pyorrhea ), which is loss of bone supporting the teeth which can later cause tooth mobility and loss. [barnaclinic.com]
Nowadays, the most common causes for the appearance of pyogenic granuloma are local trauma such as poor fitting dentures, chronic irritation, food impaction, dental plaque, dental calculus, hormones, drugs, gingival inflammation and pre-existing vascular [scielo.br]
- Pain
The patient was prescribed Paracetamol (500 mg) to be taken, if and when there is pain. She was further prescribed 0.12% chlorhexidine mouthwash. [jdentlasers.org]
Pain if there are abscesses 5. [barnaclinic.com]
The pain sensitivity will depend on the degree of injury involving the traumatic lesion, but it is frequently painless. Adjacent areas to dental implants are rare for the appearance of this type of granuloma. [scielo.br]
Gastrointestinal
- Nausea
In contrast, oral hygiene is compromised due to factors such as nausea and sleepness 9. [scielo.br]
Jaw & Teeth
- Periodontitis
Periodontics is the dental specialty specializing in periodontal or gum diseases. Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth in the jaws. [barnaclinic.com]
DOI: 10.19080/ADOH.2018.09.555770 Abstract Introduction: Any localised swelling of the gingivae may be called an epulis although its usage is normally restricted to developmental or reactive swellings of the gingivae or periodontal ligament origin. [juniperpublishers.com]
Marginal periodontitis is of causal significance in its aetiology; microtrauma is also a possible cause. Often a short case history and a tendency for recurrence. [med-college.de]
Conventional periodontal treatment, including scaling and root planing was performed to decrease gingival inflammation. [jdentlasers.org]
After the excision, periodontal dressing was applied to avoid trauma and improve healing. [scielo.br]
- Gingival Overgrowth
Furthermore, an additional benefit following the surgical removal of the gingival overgrowth was the improvement of the tooth position in the dental arch. [juniperpublishers.com]

- Bleeding Gums
What happens to your gums during pregnancy? Pregnancy causes an exaggerated gingival response to bacterial plaque. Symptoms include inflamed gums, bleeding gums and sometimes epulis gravidarum. [barnaclinic.com]
Treatment
treatment : once the patient's periodontal situation is under control, an assessment must be done to see what other dental treatments are needed to ensure not only dental health but also aesthetics and function. [barnaclinic.com]
After a brief review of the clinical and aetiopathogenic aspects, the authors discuss the value of complete surgical treatment and raise the question of the possible relation, in this particular case, between angioma and this recurrent so-called angiomatous [unboundmedicine.com]
Moreover, it is a treatment without great cost, safe and easy to perform. [scielo.br]
Repeated mild irritation with gestational steroid changes may subsequently exacerbate inflammatory response, leading to development of this proliferating lesion. [3] Various modalities of treatment have been documented for treatment of this lesion. [jdentlasers.org]

Prognosis
Surgical treatment with excisional biopsy was enough for the case resolution, presenting favorable prognosis with no clinical signs of recurrence. REFERENCES 1. Poncet A, Dor L. Botryomycose humaine. Rev Chir. 1897;18:996 [ Links ] 2. [scielo.br]
Etiology
The etiologic means by which female sex steroid hormones may influence the periodontium of women, especially during pregnancy, are varied and differ from those ordinarily associated with plaque-induced gingivitis. [jdentlasers.org]
These usually occur when deep satellite nodules, surrounding the original injury site, are not completely excised; when the etiological factors are unsuccessfully removed; or when there is a re-injury of the surgical area 16. [scielo.br]
