Presentation
Most PPMs present as an asymptomatic solitary lung nodule and are detected incidentally on chest plain film or chest CT. Few cases have been reported to be symptomatic and present with hemoptysis [6]. [hindawi.com]
Case presentation A 62-year-old woman who had undergone a total thyroidectomy for a papillary thyroid carcinoma 6 years prior presented with an enlarging pulmonary nodule. [surgicalcasereports.springeropen.com]
In the present report, a case of recurrent transitional meningioma with multiple lung nodules, which were demonstrated to be metastatic meningioma, is presented. [spandidos-publications.com]
They present as a solitary pulmonary nodule, and most of them are benign, except for three cases. [ecancer.org]
The lesion, smaller in its maximum diameter, was not present in a previous chest X-ray carried out 3 years before the date of diagnosis. [academic.oup.com]
Entire Body System
- Pain
Surprisingly, a routine chest radiograph performed to investigate anterior chest wall pain (Figure 1), demonstrated multiple, well-circumscribed non-cavitating round opacities (cannonball lesions) in the lungs bilaterally measuring up to 60 mm. [eurorad.org]
Cardiovascular
- Hypertension
The patient was asymptomatic from a pulmonary standpoint; he had a past history of mild hypertension, but was otherwise in good general health. [academic.oup.com]
Ears
- Tinnitus
One year and 3 months later, the patient experienced tinnitus in the left ear and dizziness for 1 month. [spandidos-publications.com]
Treatment
Complete surgical resection for accessible intracranial meningiomas is the mainstay of treatment for WHO grade-1 meningiomas, whereas grade-2 and 3 tumours often require adjuvant treatment, either radiotherapy or stereotactic radiosurgery. [eurorad.org]
Consequently, no standardized treatment strategy for pulmonary metastasis of meningioma has been established. Specifically, the treatment efficacy of surgical resection of pulmonary metastasis of meningioma remains unclear. [surgicalcasereports.springeropen.com]
Treatment and prognosis These lesions are largely benign, but malignant lesions have been rarely reported 1. [radiopaedia.org]
Prior to detection of the distant metastasis, multiple craniotomies, radiotherapy and Gamma Knife treatments were performed in the present case. [spandidos-publications.com]
Treatment consisted of complete resection in all patients except one [4], who remained untreated and died 6 years after the diagnosis, the cause of death being pulmonary embolism. [academic.oup.com]
Prognosis
Treatment and prognosis These lesions are largely benign, but malignant lesions have been rarely reported 1. [radiopaedia.org]
Surgical resection provides the material for final pathology and an excellent long-term prognosis, especially in those cases that proved to be benign. [academic.oup.com]
Further studies should address the question of whether surgical resection of pulmonary metastasis of meningioma can help improve patient prognosis. [surgicalcasereports.springeropen.com]
Surgical resection provides not only a conclusive pathologic diagnosis but an excellent long-term prognosis. No tumor recurrence has been reported in benign cases. [hindawi.com]
Etiology
Most of those cases were asymptomatic, grew slowly, and had an excellent prognosis with an unknown etiology. [surgicalcasereports.springeropen.com]

Prevention
Postoperative radiotherapy has been recommended for prevention of local recurrence, especially when resection is subtotal or when the histology is suggestive of aggressive histology.[5] Surgical resection of pulmonary lesions is restricted to those patients [eurorad.org]
A correct diagnosis by a surgical resection would prevent an overdiagnosis and overtreatment even if a solitary pulmonary metastasis is clinically suspected. [surgicalcasereports.springeropen.com]
