Presentation
The dermatologic lesions and hypomelanotic macules are usually present at birth. [7] Our patient had no evidence of tuberous sclerosis. [jcnonweb.com]
Clinical presentation: Clinical profile varies from still-birth to intrauterine myocardial infarct (due to coronary artery compression). [histopathology-india.net]
The patient presented with a systolic murmur (graded 3/6) with a palpable thrill, no cyanosis, and no edema. [jtd.amegroups.com]
Some patients may present with only renal and pulmonary manifestations while in some skin or neurological manifestations might be absent. However, in our case, the patient had skin and neurological features as the presenting complaints. [mjdrdypu.org]
In more than half of the cases, it spontaneously remits after weaning. 5 We present the case of a patient with an echocardiographic diagnosis of suspected multiple rhabdomyomas with spontaneous, complete early remission. [revespcardiol.org]

Patients may have peripheral embolization of the tumor, obstruction of an atrial-ventricular valve, or symptoms of a systemic disease (fever, malaise, etc). They are typically pedunculated masses located in the left atrium. [med-ed.virginia.edu]

- Cyanosis
In 4 babies (12%) the presence of a mass caused a significant obstruction and/or clinical signs of heart failure and/or cyanosis due to right or left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. [bmccardiovascdisord.biomedcentral.com]
Physical examination of the patient can reveal a heart murmur, a reduction in peripheral pulse or cyanosis. The appearance of cardiac arrhythmias is not infrequent, and has been described with a higher incidence of Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome. [revespcardiol.org]
Cyanosis and decreased peripheral pulses can result. Death occurs because of obstruction of ventricular blood flow, arrhythmias, valve stenosis, or loss of functional myocardium secondary to extensive tumor involvement. [emedicine.medscape.com]
Decreased fetal growth has also been associated with rhabdomyoma. 11 – 18,30 Clinically, in addition to serious arrhythmias, severe cyanosis, mental retardation, seizures, cutaneous lesions, and visceral tumors may be observed in the neonate or infant [radiologykey.com]

- Cardiomegaly
Cardiac rhabdomyoma is frequently multiple and asymptomatic, but the tumour may cause cardiomegaly, heart failure by causing outflow obstruction, arrhythmias, thromboembolic disease or sudden unexpected death. [histopathology-india.net]
Chest X-ray was suggestive of gross cardiomegaly with a cardiothoracic ratio of 90%. The left lung was not visualized [Figure 1]. ECG was suggestive of regular sinus rhythm and right ventricular hypertrophy. [jcnonweb.com]

Myxomas, if large and prolapsing through the atrioventricular valve, can cause an added noise known as 'tumour plop' as the mass impacts against the endocardial wall at the beginning of ventricular systole. [patient.info]

Treatment
MRI T1 : isointense to adjacent myocardium T2: hyperintense to adjacent myocardium Treatment and prognosis In most cases, no treatment is required, and these lesions regress spontaneously. [radiopaedia.org]
Treatment of benign tumors is usually surgical resection; tumors may recur. Treatment of metastatic cancer depends on tumor type and origin; prognosis is generally poor. Primary cardiac tumors are found in 1/2000 people at autopsy. [msdmanuals.com]

Prognosis
The overall prognosis is dependent on the number, size and location of the lesions as well as the presence or absence of associated anomalies. [radiopaedia.org]
Benign cardiac tumors in childhood have an excellent prognosis when completely excised and appear to have a good short-time prognosis even when excision is incomplete. [9] Indications of surgery include presence of significant symptoms in combination [jcnonweb.com]
It should also be noted that symptomatic patients generally have a poorer prognosis than those who are asymptomatic [ 5 ]. A review of all papers on cardiac rhabdomyomas published up to 1990 is available [ 11 ]. [em-consulte.com]
Treatment of metastatic cancer depends on tumor type and origin; prognosis is generally poor. Primary cardiac tumors are found in 1/2000 people at autopsy. Metastatic tumors are 30 to 40 times more common. [msdmanuals.com]
Etiology
The etiology of rhabdomyoma is unknown. Studies have delineated at least two genetic loci on the long arm of chromosome 9 (9q34) and the long arm of chromosome 11 (11q23). [5] Rhabdomyoma resembles a hamartoma derived from embryonal myoblasts. [jcnonweb.com]

Prevention
In the Anura (frogs and toads) the whole ventricle is filled with a spongy network which prevents the arterial and venous blood from the two auricles mixing to any great extent. [thefullwiki.org]
For a patient with obvious symptoms, a resection of the tumor to release the symptoms and prevent further complications and risk of sudden death should be considered since there is a high probability of arrhythmias and ventricular tachycardia [4]. [oatext.com]
