Presentation
We report a case with the unusual presentation of sensory ataxia. A 71 year-old male presented with ataxia and disequilibrium. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Entire Body System
-
Sepsis
Pneumonia and sepsis then supervened and the patient died. Autopsy findings showed degeneration and loss of the dorsal root ganglion cells and degeneration of the dorsal column of the spinal cord. Two previously reported cases presented with ataxia. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Respiratoric
-
Pneumonia
Pneumonia and sepsis then supervened and the patient died. Autopsy findings showed degeneration and loss of the dorsal root ganglion cells and degeneration of the dorsal column of the spinal cord. Two previously reported cases presented with ataxia. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
-
Pharyngitis
All had normal oral function, whereas pharyngeal function was abnormal in 6 patients. Esophageal function was abnormal in 6 patients. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Gastrointestinal
-
Choking
Despite some of the patients having suffered from choking episodes and others from bronchopulmonary complications, they did not spontaneously admit dysphagia. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Neurologic
-
Polyradiculoneuropathy
Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating/blood Polyradiculoneuropathy, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating/complications Polyradiculoneuropathy, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating/drug therapy Polyradiculoneuropathy, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating/immunology [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
-
Upbeat Nystagmus
Bilateral dysmetria, truncal ataxia, Upbeat nystagmus, and impaired vibration and position sense were the clinical features. However, weakness of the limbs, tongue, or face was not definite. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Urogenital
-
Renal Injury
The peripheral neuropathy and renal injury were not reversible after discontinuing the preparation. Pneumonia and sepsis then supervened and the patient died. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
Treatment for this form of associated neuropathy has not been established. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
Current development of diagnostic tools would contribute to define a variety of clinical manifestations, topography, vascular concomitants, and prognosis in medial medullary infarction. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Etiology
Neurosarcoidosis was diagnosed pathologically by proximal dorsal root biopsy after systemic investigations for inflammatory, infectious, and neoplastic etiologies were found to be negative. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
