Presentation
A, a mass with calcification present in right testis and calcification in left testis before surgery; B-C, calcification present in left testis 8 months (B) and 17 months (C) after right orchiectomy. [aclr.com.es]
The patients presented with testicular enlargement, which was present for 6 months and 8 years, respectively. There was no gynecomastia. The tumors metastasized to the inguinal and para‐aortic lymph nodes. [onlinelibrary.wiley.com]
May present in both pediatric and adult males, depending on the histologic subtype. Testicular mass or firmness. May occasionally present with precocious pseudopuberty or gynecomastia. [radiopaedia.org]
The most striking mode of presentation of SLCTs is virilization. [ccij-online.org]

Workup
Laboratory tests showed elevated serum testosterone 27.6 ng/mL (normal range: 0.2-1.2 ng/mL) and dehydroepiandrosterone of 16.3 ng/mL (normal range: 0.8-3.2 ng/mL), and normal CA-125 of 22 U/mL (normal range The patient was referred to imaging workup [sjmms.net]
Treatment
Palliative treatment Management of recurrent or metastatic disease- overt metastatic disease is treated with chemotherapy. As with granulosa cell tumors, the optimal regimen for treatment of advanced Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors is unknown. [omicsonline.org]

Newer agents in treatment and validated treatment protocols for such fatal metastatic tumors need larger studies. Financial support and sponsorship Nil. Conflicts of interest There are no conflicts of interest. [ijpmonline.org]

Prognosis
Prognosis The prognosis is generally good as the tumour tends to grow slowly and usually is benign: 25% are malignant. For malignant tumours with undifferentiated histology, prognosis is poor. [humpath.com]
The prognosis of a benign Sertoli cell tumor is good, but the prognosis of malignant Sertoli cell tumors has not been established. [synapse.koreamed.org]
The presence of heterologous elements also portends poor prognosis. Recurrence is usually within 2 years [3], [4] and occurs in the peritoneal cavity. [ijabmr.org]
Definition / general Rare; excellent prognosis Mean age 30 years old, range 2-76 years Tends to secrete estrogen / progesterone, but diagnose based on morphology, not hormones Similar to a well differentiated Sertoli-Leydig tumor without a Leydig component [pathologyoutlines.com]

Etiology
The etiology of testicular cancer is unknown. [synapse.koreamed.org]

Epidemiology
Changes to coding designations would facilitate clinically relevant epidemiologic investigations. [ascopubs.org]
Epidemiology Sertoli and Leydig cell tumors account for 25% of endocrine tumors in the ovary. They are rare with a prevalence of 0.2% of all ovarian cancers [ 2 ]. Family forms of these types of tumors have been described [ 4 ]. [omicsonline.org]
Pathophysiology
TREATMENT Section: Our understanding of the pathophysiology of these tumors continues to advance, yet, at this point, this knowledge has not yet been translated into novel therapeutic approaches. [ascopubs.org]
Prevention
However, in general, they are not favoured to prevent incomplete resections and tumour rupture. 8 For those with stage T1 with tumours of intermediate or poor differentiation, or with capsule rupture, standard staging (omentectomy, appendectomy and pelvic [elsevier.es]
In addition, limitations in national reporting prevent an epidemiologic understanding of these tumors, including the risk for subsequent malignancies. [ascopubs.org]
