Presentation
In this case report, supernumerary kidney presented as vesicoureteric reflux in a 4-year-old male child. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
The supernumerary kidney, independently of its origin, does not present characteristic symptoms and in most cases is separated from the same side kidney. [doi.org]
Case Presentation: A 58‐year‐old woman presented to our emergency room with low back pain and malaise to the point of being unable to perform activities of daily living for 1 week. [shmabstracts.com]
Supernumerary kidney is an extremely rare renal anomaly; may more commonly be present as urinary tract infection. Its association with horseshoe kidney is a rarity. This case presented as pyonephrosis. [indianjurol.com]

An afebrile 8-year-old boy presented with convulsions, coma and hypertension. Laboratory investigations were normal. Excretory urography and angiography showed a left supernumerary kidney. The literature on this rare anomaly is briefly reviewed. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

We propose that emergent operative intervention for FNOM is dictated primarily by the presence of shock (hypotension and tachycardia) and that serial hemoglobin levels may not play a significant role in the decision-making process and could be eliminated [mafiadoc.com]

Treatment
Treatment The need for treatment is determined based on the results of the functional tests and patient's complaints. [steadyhealth.com]
Treatment and prognosis Management is symptom based. For asymptomatic patients regular USG follow up and USG with excretory function assessment is suggested if patient is symptomatic. duplex kidney megapolycalycosis [radiopaedia.org]

Epidemiology
Epidemiology Rare, in the literature exist 80 case reports ( Bernik et al, 2001 ). Sign and Symptoms There are no other associated anomalies. Abdominal pain, fever, tumor, or arterial hypertension can be generated by the supernumerary kidney. [urology-textbook.com]
Pathophysiology
The pathophysiology behind this anomaly is either primary maturation abnormality of the vesicoureteral junction or a shorter intramural– submucosal segment of ureter. [omicsonline.org]
Prevention
These facts prevented to categorize this case as supernumerary kidney. This case suggests that there may be many transitional cases between fused kidney and supernumerary kidney. [jstage.jst.go.jp]
Conclusions: Because of the limited nature of supernumerary kidneys in the population, there are no clear recommendations regarding long‐term surveillance; however, in the setting of CPT II deficiency, the role of prophylactic supernumerary nephrectomy to prevent [shmabstracts.com]
