Presentation
The therapy is guided by the patient’s clinical presentation and hemodynamic status. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

- Sepsis
Here, we report the SHs in patient with sepsis and a possible diagnosis of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TC). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

[…] muscular portion of the heart.[3] It usually appears after a significant stressor, either physical or emotional; when caused by the latter, the condition is sometimes called broken heart syndrome.[4] Examples of physical stressors that can cause TTS are sepsis [en.wikipedia.org]
- Fishing
In Japan, this disease is known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy (named after the fishing pot used for trapping octopus). [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
[…] relatively recent case reports and series have described a condition featuring symptoms and signs of acute myocardial infarction without demonstrable coronary artery stenosis or spasm in which the heart takes on the appearance of a Japanese octopus fishing [circ.ahajournals.org]
- Epilepsy
A 69-year-old woman undergoing treatment for hypertension and epilepsy was scheduled to undergo cataract surgery. All preoperative examination results were within normal limits. Despite being tense, she walked to the operating room. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
[…] medical condition Surgery Intensive care unit (ICU) stay Use of or withdrawal from illicit drugs TCM has also been reported after near-drowning episodes. [14] Seizures may also trigger TCM, but it is rare for TCM to result in sudden unexpected death in epilepsy [emedicine.medscape.com]

- Collapse
An 11-year-old boy collapsed during morning assembly at his junior high school. The automated external defibrillator detected ventricular fibrillation and provided shock delivery. He was successfully resuscitated and reverted to sinus rhythm. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Case 1 A 74-year-old woman was referred following chest tightness and a collapse immediately after playing tennis. Immediately prior to this she had felt hot, sweaty and vomited once, but had no other symptoms. [doi.org]
1967 that the death of a close relative increases the risk of dying within one year by a factor of seven.[56] Engel wrote about sudden and rapid death during psychological stress in 1971 and itemized 8 causation categories: (1) on the impact of the collapse [en.wikipedia.org]
Respiratoric
- Dyspnea
A 101 years-old woman was admitted to our Emergency Department (ED) for acute dyspnea which onset nearly two hours before presentation. She had been on hydrochlorothyazyde-amiloride therapy due to mild hypertension. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Cardiovascular
- Chest Pain
Our patient had typical substernal chest pain induced with exercise and was relieved by sublingual nitroglycerin in the Emergency Department. The pain started after 2 h of intensive Zumba workout. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Tachycardia
The day after his SS symptoms disappeared, the patient's blood pressure decreased, and he developed tachycardia. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Her tachycardia was diagnosed as the short-coupled variant of idiopathic VF, and an implantable cardioverter defibrillator was implanted. [doi.org]
- Retrosternal Chest Pain
A 72-year-old woman with asthma attack and retrosternal chest pain was presented to our emergency unit. She had used albuterol spray ten-times before admission due to accentuated dyspnea. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

- Palpitations

Urogenital
- Cesarean Section
Five of these cases had vaginal deliveries and the remaining cases had cesarean sections. Within the latter group, five cases appeared intraoperatively. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Workup
Workup raised suspicion for non-accidental trauma. Despite progression to brain death, the severely decreased ventricular function and apical akinesis of the left ventricle improved within 40 hours of admission. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

QT, RR, ST Intervals
- ST Elevation
Despite this ST elevation persisted; however the coronary angiogram was negative for obstructive coronary artery disease. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Clinically it is characterised by the acute onset of chest pain and is associated with ECG changes such as ST elevation, ST depression or deep T wave inversion which mimic an acute coronary syndrome. [doi.org]
- Prolonged QT Interval
The QT interval was also prolonged ( Fig. 2 ). The cardiac enzyme levels were mildly elevated. Emergency cardiac catheterization disclosed no obstructive coronary artery disease. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Electrocardiographic (ECG) changes include nonspecific ST segment and T wave changes, decreased QRS voltage, prolonged QT interval, and sinus tachycardia. [emedicine.medscape.com]
Treatment
She was discharged with medical therapy including a beta-blocker, which would not be routinely employed in the treatment of a patient with TCM. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Prognosis
Prognosis of takotsubo cardiomyopathy is generally favorable, but serious complications can occur, especially in the early stage. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on the clinical management of takotsubo cardiomyopathy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Data on longterm follow-up is pending and further studies will be necessary to clarify the etiology and reach consensus in acute and longterm management of TLVABS. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Epidemiology The real incidence of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is uncertain. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Pathophysiology
The pathophysiology of the disorder remains to be elucidated but may involve catecholamine excess and vasospasm. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prevention
Excess catecholamines have been postulated as a contributing mechanism to the disease, therefore, catecholamines were avoided to prevent further myocardial injury. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
