Presentation
METHODS: We present a case report with details of the initial presentation, laboratory evaluation, surgical and pathologic findings, and subsequent course in a patient with a thyrotropin (thyroid-stimulating hormone or TSH)-secreting adenoma and postoperative [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Entire Body System
- Medication Noncompliance
In a patient with an elevated TSH concentration and a previous diagnosis of hypothyroidism, it is important to consider other entities besides medication noncompliance. TSH-secreting adenomas can also cause elevated levels of TSH. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Cardiovascular
- Mitral Valve Prolapse
This mutation was previously described as somatic in patients affected by hyperfunctioning thyroid nodules and as germline in a single Chinese family affected by thyrotoxicosis and mitral valve prolapse. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Musculoskeletal
- Severe Osteoporosis
For 10 years, a young man was followed for a severe osteoporosis associated with a considerable reduction in height and a massive weight loss. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Eyes
- Hemianopsia
The patient underwent a second surgical procedure 2 months later due to macroscopic residual tumor, bitemporal hemianopsia and a suprasellar homogenous uptake with regular borders on indium-111 octreotide scintigraphy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Neurologic
- Bitemporal Hemianopsia
The patient underwent a second surgical procedure 2 months later due to macroscopic residual tumor, bitemporal hemianopsia and a suprasellar homogenous uptake with regular borders on indium-111 octreotide scintigraphy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Neurologic Manifestation
The patient was diagnosed with thymoma-associated PNH based on neurological manifestations and neurophysiological findings, and was treated with pulse therapy with methylprednisolone after thymectomy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Myokymia
He complained of appetite loss, weight loss, myokymia, paraesthesia, hyperhydrosis and insomnia. Chest X ray and computed tomography (CT) scan showed a mediastinal tumor diagnosed as a thymoma by CT-guided biopsy. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
- Excitement
Subsequent examinations, including gel filtration chromatography, suggested interference by substances against ruthenium, which reduced the excitation of ruthenium, and resulted in erroneous results. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Other Pathologies
- Thymus Hyperplasia
KEYWORDS: Thymus hyperplasia; graves disease; immunoglobulins, thyroid-stimulating; receptors thyrotropin [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Treatment
There is no consensus for its treatment. We describe here a case of CPM that occurred in a young patient after correction of hyponatremia, its treatment by intravenous thyrotropin-releasing hormone, and its outcome. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis
Despite further enlargement of the remnant thyroid tissue on post-radioiodine scintiscanning, the patient is currently euthyroid, with normal thyroid-stimulating hormone levels; however, her long-term prognosis remains uncertain. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Prognosis The type of tinea pedis infection and underlying conditions (eg, immunosuppression, diabetes) affect the prognosis; however, with appropriate treatment, the prognosis is generally good. [emedicine.medscape.com]
Thus, life-long follow-up is required to assess the prognosis of the tumor. [doi.org]
Etiology
A radioimmunoassay for TSH helps the physician to distinguish the different etiologies of hypothyroidism, to confirm the diagnosis of "euthyroid" Graves' disease and to evaluate pituitary function. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
Etiology Resistance to TRH is caused by mutations in the TRH receptor gene ( TRHR ; 8q23). The documents contained in this web site are presented for information purposes only. [orpha.net]

Pathophysiology
A common third cause has been genetically mapped to a locus on chromosome 15, but the underlying pathophysiology has not yet been elucidated. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

VIVO Pathophysiology Thyroid-stimulating hormone, also known as thyrotropin, is secreted from cells in the anterior pituitary called thyrotrophs, finds its receptors on epithelial cells in the thyroid gland, and stimulates that gland to synthesize and [vivo.colostate.edu]
Prevention
This tissue-specific glycosylation prevents each TSH from cross activity. Interestingly, this is the first time the role of tissue-specific glycosylation in preventing functional crosstalk between signaling molecules has been shown. [medicaldaily.com]
Thus, interactions among the different functions of TRH are prevented. 4 Clinical significane As TRH is found in blood plasma in low concentration only and as this concentration is unrelated to the respective function state of the organism TRH is usually [flexikon.doccheck.com]
Prevention of fetal hyperthyroidism by administration of antithyroid drug (ATD) and levothyroxine (LT(4)) to pregnant patients who previously received ablative therapy has been reported. [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
