Presentation
Clinical Presentation Although patients with LD syndrome are born with distichiatic lashes, they typically present around the age of 4 or 5 years and not at birth. [entokey.com]
Lymphoedema may present after the age of ten years and may not be noticeable at the time of presentation of distichiasis. [aimu.us]
His younger sister presented with a similar phenotype. At birth she had normal black hair. A vascular nevus was present on the palm of the right hand and faded during childhood. [lymphedemapeople.com]

- Falling

- Turkish
The single affected individual in the second family studied by Irrthum et al. (2003) was a 12-year-old girl, the offspring of unaffected first-cousin Turkish parents, who had previously been described in detail by Glade et al. (2001). [lymphedemapeople.com]
- Short Stature
The contour of the sternum, the low-set ears, and the short stature are suggestive. [lymphedemapeople.com]
Treatment
Treatment Treatment of mild cases is with lubricating ointment, epilation, and electrolysis. Severe cases require lamellar eyelid division and cryotherapy to the posterior lamella as discussed above. [eyewiki.aao.org]
Prognosis Prognosis is good if prompt treatment is initiated before permanent damage to the cornea. Recurrence of distichiatic cilia after surgical intervention may still take place. [aimu.us]
There are treatments however that can lesson the symptoms. [lymphedemapeople.com]

Etiology

Sidney Fox remarked decades ago, owing to the rarity of distichiasis most papers studying the condition blend the discussion of trichiasis and distichiasis together, and consequently, robust or useful information is generally lacking in the literature.1 Etiology [entokey.com]
